I know I just did a critique, but in addition to the four critiques a month I'll be giving, I've also decided to add an honorable mention entry each month as well. I've gotten a lot of requests for critiques, but some of the work I've been given to critique is fantastic--so good that I'm hard-pressed to say anything other than 'wow'.
Here are five pieces that I feel deserve recognition, but don't necessarily garner my typical on-and-on-and-on critique. Enjoy them, and show the artists some love.
I'll have five more pieces up for honorable mention for you at the end of the month.
Enjoy!

Eros by *ThePix
This is quite an impressive piece and the use of color is very effective. The amount of detail in this piece is fantastic and the concept in general is really pretty terrific. I love the idea of firey butterfly wings bursting from the females back. The precision of anatomy is quite impressive here. Great shading, too. The border adds interest to an already interesting piece.

David Bowie by ~BreatheKeepBreathing

I admit it, I'm a fan. How could I not be? David and I share a birthday. Generally, I think this piece is great. The likeness is there and the costume is awesome. There's a lot of detail there, which makes Bowie's outfit quite impressive. There are only two weaknesses that I can see here: the background and the photo of the work. The background could be a bit more refined, but it still works. The photo, however... Always do your best to get the best possible photo of your work to accurately represent your art. It's important.

Dracula by ~taylorlc
The movement in this piece is awesome. Drawings that 'move' are getting rare these days, but this one pulls it off perfectly. The profiles of the characters are spot on. I can't find a single anatomical mistake, which is quite the feat, especially when dealing with outspread fingers. My only suggestion is to get the darkness of the background smooth rather than keeping it sketchy. Overall, an awesome piece, especially for Halloween!

Chameleon III by ~flyin-muskrat-attack
This is the third piece in a trilogy, but I chose it because it's my favorite of the three. This particular piece really gets my praise. The amount of detail floors me. From the folds of the shirt to the bridge in the distance, everything is done perfectly. I especially love how in-focus the face is compared to how fuzzy and light the bridge in the far distance is. My only critique is regarding the subtle glare at the center of the page. Otherwise, this is damn close to perfect. Be sure to visit her gallery to see the other pieces in her series. They're all fantastic.

Purple Haze by ~AoiKotori

It's hard for me to critique color drawings because I don't do them, therefore I don't really have any concept of how difficult it must be. However, I do know a good drawing when I see one. The colors in this piece are pretty damn stunning. Check out the depth in the eyes--they aren't just green, but there's yellow in there too. The subtle color changes in the hair are fantastic and I adore the frames of the glasses. Overall, this is amazingly well done.

i noted for a critique, but i changed my mind b/c my piece doesn't really seem like the kind of artwork you are doing critiques for
