Who ever made up the silly rule that said that Jack Sparrow was the only good looking pirate on the high seas? I'm putting my foot down and submitting my own swashbuckler for consideration.
For those of you who only know as much about pirates as you learned from the movies, Port Royal was the center of Jamaican shipping commerce in the 17th century and was, basically, like the Las Vegas for pirates looking for a good time. It was even called 'the richest and wickedest city in the world', so it has Vegas beat by quite a bit of centuries, doesn't it?
Anyhow, I'm sort of surprised at how happy I am with this particular piece because I went a bit loosey goosey with the proportions and such. Eye in the right place? Puh-leeze. Mouth in proportion? Hey, if he looks funny just remind yourself that he's a pirate, people... he's living hard. But for you sane ones, isn't he pretty?
Charcoal on 90 lb. paper, loosey goosey freehand Original size: 14" x 20" Minor curve adjustments/border in PS Model: Lars Weidemann
he is pretty. reminds me of a girl i used to date actually, the lips and the jaw line....and the hair too. but back on the subject that is very very good. it would seem old jack has a new rival..

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
