I'm pretty sure I'm done with my dolls experimentation... because... I kind of can't stand this drawing. I mean, it looks a hell of a lot better in person? But even in person it annoys the piss out of me. I don't know... there's just something seriously wrong with it. Or maybe it's just the anime thing that's starting to get to me. Took a long time, huh? Yeeeeah... way super long.
Anyway, this is Dion from eluts.com. Whatever. To scraps with you!

I think I can understand what you mean. Is it the rendering of the skin? The hair? The sense of form? The overall energy? Or maybe the anime-ish proportions are starting to clash with your pre-established notion of realism?
Maybe it's an unease by being stuck between both worlds, unable to find a comfortable interest nor integration to either side, as you as an artist progress naturally, and try to find some deeper dimension of self-expression.
Or maybe I'm just blurting out nonsense because I'm pissed about my computer being down, combined with an art block. ><

This is why there is no such thing as perfect. A flawless beauty would be blank without any appeal nor character. Its scars are what defines it and what inspires emotion... from that moment, it becomes art.
I see what you mean as there is something wrong with it, personally I think it's the nose. Of course it could be because of the doll's subtle non-flesh skin tone. To me there is just something about it that looks to fake (maybe because they aren't real in the first place). It was a nice idea and a nice experiment but real humans are more your forte.
