Quite different from my usual work, I know. But try to enjoy it, you adorable little...

There's a bit of a strange and... I guess maybe eerie story behind this, though it was unknown to me until hours after I completed the piece.

I couldn't think of a title for this. Ascension was the title chosen by my dear friend Denyss before he even saw the actual piece, and though the title was what he called a 'failsafe', now... after a few hours of having given this piece that title, I can't think of a more appropriate one.

Last night, after I had titled the work, right before bed, I sat there looking at this piece and realized that it was very much like one of my older pieces, The Fall. [link] When I had created The Fall over a year ago I was in what I think of as a 'bad place', and though I didn't realize it at the time, that drawing represented a lot of emotional turmoil that I was constantly battling at that time. I sat there comparing this new piece to that one, technically, for once actually seeing how much my style has changed within a years time. And then I got up from the computer and got ready for bed. That's when it hit me. This is so similar to The Fall, and yet it's almost a polar opposite of it. While The Fall harbors a darkness and tragedy to it, this is more peaceful... content... safe, somehow. Even the title--The Fall suggesting a loss, Ascension suggesting a gain... And then there's the whole fact that I didn't title it, but Denyss did. That's the part that somewhat blew my mind. The Fall had come from a loss of a friend, a breech of trust. Denyss, however, has become a pillar of strength and inspiration, and one of my closest friends.

So, Den, even though you aren't crazy about this piece, perhaps it'll take on a bit more meaning now. It certainly has for me.
I think this makes it official. It's done. I've moved on.

Beautiful... Nose looks a little too big, but everything else makes you just don't notice the nose... Very Very great work!
While I still think you shouldve gone for "Teh Libertine-Chan" [:p], well, you know what I just told you on msn. I like it. Especially with that "hidden" meaning.

everything about it is beautiful. the actual picture, and the story behind it. art is 10000 times better when there is a personal story behind it, don't you think?
Good pic..:)

Nice Work :P ^^*

Did you happen to have a point...?
Absolutely.
But something about not knowing the story until afterward is a bit... weird. Creepy, almost. And that happens to me ALL the time.
Weird, eh?
